Blackdown Hills Natural Fibre Group
The BHNFG is a fibre/textile group comprising of fibre producers,
textile artists/designers and textile manufacturers. The Group
is established to act as a focal point for all those with an interest in natural fibres within and
around the Blackdown Hills AONB In doing this the Group will:
a) Look actively for funding to strengthen and ensure the long term future of the Group.
b) Work with other organisations, private, statutory and voluntary, and with individuals to achieve our aims
c) Identify specific people/organisations to take the recommendations forward
To date the group has received funds for several projects:
- Worm counts on livestock, education and training for local farms. (Funded by COBRA)
- Detailed survey of fibre producers within the Blackdown Hills AONB (Funded by Rural Enterprise Gateway)
- Purchase of worsted machinery for fibre processing (Funded by Leader + Key Fund)
- Fibre Fest festival of fibres and textiles, a two day event with over 100 textile related stalls from fibre producers, weavers, spinners, manufacturers, textiles equipment suppliers and textile artists. Two day event at Bridwell Park & Coldharbour Mill, Uffculme, Devon 1st & 2nd September 2007. (Funded by Leader + Key Fund)
- Feasibility study of small scale scouring systems (Funded by Rural Enterprise Gateway
