Although much is said about the need to have environmentally sound practices to safeguard our future, very little is done.
Fibre Harvest meets the environmental challenges of textile production in a truly innovative way, as follows:
- obtains fibre for the production of yarn and textiles from UK sustainable herds including sheep wool, alpaca, cashmere, mohair and other fine fibres.
- utilises practices laid down by the Soil Association to achieve organic status.
- manufactures 40% of its finished textiles (including knitwear and woven textiles) using hand techniques and manually operated machines;
- manufactures yarns and textiles only to order. Consequently, there is no manufactured excess, using no more energy than necessary.
